Tea Party Senate Races
12/6/2009, by Proloy Bhatta
I was speaking to a very close Democratic friend of mine yesterday. And he told me that his main hope for 2010 would be to get rid of all the Democratic incumbents and replace them with more vocal liberal voices during the primaries.
He voiced major concerns over Blanche Lincoln -- one of the few Democratic senators not to support the current congressional health care proposals.
There is hope that she will vote for the bill if she thought there was a chance she might lose the Democratic primary for it.
So Research 2000 did a poll on this.
In the 2010 Democratic primary for US Senate, Lincoln holds a 16% lead over Bill Halter - the current Lt. Gov of Arkansas.
| Candidate | % |
| Blanche Lincoln | 42 |
| Bill Halter | 26 |
| Unsure | 32 |
And here is how she stacks up against each of the potential Republican opponents.
| Republican Candidate | Lincoln % | Republican % |
| Gilbert Baker | 42 | 41 |
| Curtis Coleman | 44 | 39 |
| Tom Cox | 45 | 31 |
| Kim Hendren | 46 | 30 |
Against Gilbert Baker, the two would be in a dead heat but Lincoln was up seven points back in September.
Against Curtis Coleman, Lincoln is ahead by five points but was up eight points back in September.
