Sarah Palin's Net Unfavorable Rating At All Time High

7/14/2009, by Proloy Bhatta

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sarah Palin's favorable rating has dropped 14% since the 2008 election.
  • 65% of adults do not feel Palin would be an effective president.
  • Obama's job approval ratings have dropped 6% since last month.

According to the latest CBS News poll conducted July 9-12, Sarah Palin's favorable rating has dropped 14% since the 2008 election.

With a favorable rating of 27% and an unfavorable rating of 37%, her unfavorable rating of -10% is her personal worst. This is not the lowest favorable rating for Sarah Palin, however. When she was relatively unknown nationally in August 2008, her favorable rating was 22% but her unfavorable rating was only 11%.

52% feel that Palin's resignation was better for her career than it was better for Alaska.

The latest 2012 poll had Palin bunched up at the top with Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee so we cannot say for certain whether this has impacted her chances at getting the 2012 Republican nomination. But if she was to get the nomination, 65% of adults do not feel Palin would be an effective president. And surprisingly, 51% of Republicans share that same sentiment.

More Americans feel the country has gotten off on the wrong track than they did in each of the past four months. And this is affecting Obama's job approval ratings, dropping 6% since last month while Biden's job approval rating has dropped 3% since April.
